About

Storyteller and scientist, equally at home behind a camera and underwater.

Kendyl is a marine conservationist and documentary filmmaker who co-founded the nonprofit Beyond The Reef in the British Virgin Islands. She leads projects to remove ghost fishing gear, convert retired boats and large sculptures into artificial reefs, monitor and propagate corals, and run shark and cetacean field research programs.

The organization also runs community cleanups, youth swim programs, and science outreach to build local stewardship. With a Master of Professional Science in Marine Biology from the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School — and a background in environmental science — she draws on more than a decade producing wildlife television, including hosting four consecutive Shark Weeks, to combine rigorous conservation work with storytelling that drives impact.

In 2026 she created and launched Report The Reef, an app that lets boaters across the BVI report incidents at sea, log wildlife sightings, explore anchorages and dive sites, and connect with each other on the water.
